TENTH ANNUAL NEPTA SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM

Dear Valued Member:

The NorthEast Passenger Transportation Association (NEPTA) is pleased to announce the Ten Annual Scholarship Award Program to benefit NEPTA member employees and their dependents. The continued goal of this scholarship program is to recognize the importance of education and to encourage the growth of students entering into or continuing career advancement in the transportation field.

Since 1999, NEPTA has awarded 37 scholarships and we are extremely proud to offer this program again this year. Last year, NEPTA awarded seven scholarships during the NEPTA annual meeting. All recipients are enhancing their transit careers by furthering their education.

NEPTA offers two different types of scholarships. The categories are defined in the application. Scholarships are available to employees and dependents of NEPTA members in good standing. Scholarship awards will be presented at the NEPTA annual dinner meeting on December 11, 2008 at Anthony's Pier 4 Restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts.

Please remind applicants from your organization that they must submit the application to you so that you can complete your section and forward it to NEPTA - all applications must bear a signature from the sponsoring NEPTA member. Application deadline has been extended to November 15, 2008. Scholarship recipients will be notified by the end of November.

NEPTA is extremely pleased that these funds are available to further promote and support the advancement of passenger transportation in the Northeast. Watch your mail for information regarding the 11th Annual NEPTA scholarship golf tournament. Plans are in the works for another fun event. As this event is the primary support for the scholarship program, we ask that you consider joining either as a golfer or a sponsor. Visit www.nepta.org for up-to-date information.
