The NorthEast Passenger Transportation (NEPTA) announced a scholarship program in 1999 to acknowledge and assist students entering into or continuing their education in a transit related field which includes, but not limited to, Urban Planning, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Management or Labor Relations, Public Administration, Accounting, etc.
All employees and employee dependents of NEPTA members in good standing are encouraged to apply. Financial support of this program is directly from sponsorships and participation in the NEPTA Scholarship Golf Tournament, which is the primary fund raising event each year.
The continued goal of this program is to benefit NEPTA members and to recognize the importance of education and to encourage growth of students entering into or continuing career advancement in the transportation field.
NEPTA offers two different types of scholarships. The categories are defined in the application. Scholarship awards are presented each year at the NEPTA annual dinner meeting in December. In the past the award value has ranged from $500 -$2500 depending on the fundraising events and sponsorships received.
All NEPTA member employees, dependents and students of NEPTA members are encouraged to apply. Applications must have the sponsor section completed and signed by the sponsoring NEPTA member. This year we will mail a bulliten flyer for members to help encourge scholarship applicants.
Selection will be based on student participation in school organizations, academic achievement and/or social services. The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by the NEPTA Scholarship Committee after completion of the first semester and upon the receipt of an official transcript.
The association is grateful to all of the players and sponsors who aid each year in the success of this tournament.
